It appears that cybercrime is increasing right on our doorstep. According to recent data out of Websense, hackers are moving their networks to countries like Canada as their new “launchpad” for cybercrime. Yikes! In the last year, the number of servers hosting phishing sites jumped 319% in Canada. Our country also saw a 53% increase in bot networks, the second highest for hosting bot networks. Right now, Canada is climbing up the charts in terms of hosting cybercrime, sitting at #6 in the world for 2011. This is a vast increase over the #13 spot they last held. It will be interesting to see how the Canadian government and law enforcement agencies are able to tackle this troubling problem. Via Vancouver Sun
